
EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK
1 DAY COURSE
This one day course is a minimum course for business and individuals and includes a vast amount of information and skills.
This 6 hour (1 day) Course includes what is First Aid, Legislation which covers roles and responsibilities of the First Aider. The Primary Survey can be called an initial assessment, which must be carried out irrespective of the incident you are confronted with including your casualty.
Secondary Survey, once you establish your casualty is breathing normally, this helps finding out what is potentially wrong with a casualty so the correct treatment can be given. This could be anything from talking to them gaining more information or placing them into the recovery position.
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). An In depth look at the respiratory and circulationary system and how we can attempt to get it working again.
Other parts covered include dealing and treating Wounds, Bleeds and Shock, which occurs through loss off fluids from the body and the importance of preventing it.
Seizures (convulsions) and what to do. Minor Burns and Scalds and Foreign Objects. This is a minimum requirement for Businesses, Companies and individuals.

3 DAY COURSE
This contains everything from the one day course but as it is a three day course it covers a lot more and in more detail.
Over the additional two additional days there is a quick refresher of day one. We then cover injuries to Bones, Joints and Muscles. Including fractures, dislocations sprains and strains. We look at the makeup of the skeleton and how to deal with, and, treat the different types of injuries they may have.
Head and Spinal Injuries can be potentially life changing or life ending if dealt with wrong. We cover the signs and symptoms of the different injuries to the head and neck and then move onto the spine and the dangers to the casualty if dealt with incorrectly.
Chest and Abdominal Injuries cover penetrating chest wounds affecting the chest cavity. Ribcage damage and injury can be due to a crush, a direct blow or even falling effecting their breathing.
Specialised Burns Injuries can be anything from chemical burns to electricity including lightning strikes.

Eye Injuries could be anything from a blow to the eye to foreign bodies in the eye. We also look at lacerations to the eye, damage through UV light and chemical burns to the eye.
Poisoning and how it can enter the body. The different way it can enter the body and the different types a first aider may come across including the does and don’ts on dealing with poisoning.
Anaphylaxis can be known as a SEVERE allergic reaction and it is potentially life threatening. We cover how to deal with somebody suffering a severe allergic reaction.
Major Illnesses is quite a large subject as we cover heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, asthma, hypothermia and extreme heat, (heat exhaustion and heat stroke). How to spot the signs and symptoms and dealing with the casualty.
Finally, we look at the different types of bites and stings that people can suffer from, including animal bites as well as insects.
A great course that will help prepare you for the different things you may come across.
